There's a possible hardware flaw with the 3G radio on the new iPhone They're having LOT'S of trouble with the new 3G radios on the iPhone and they're saying it's a hardware problem. There's speculation that the radio sensitivity is really bad so it has very weak 3G performance compared to other 3G phones from AT&T. Then to put the nail in the coffin, you don't get USB or Bluetooth tethering which means you gotta buy the more expensive 3G service for your computer. That's a show stopper for me.The UI on the iPhone is truly responsive and revolutionary, but this first poor implementation and the limitations they put on the 3G tethering is just too many dings against it. I’d be willing to pay that much for the service and the phone if it didn’t have these problems though. If you really want the iPhone, get the first thinner version with better battery life if they still offer it at all.

Re: The iPhone 3G reality If you spend a lot of time in a wifi-enabled area, try the iPod touch. Many of the same features as the iPhone (minus the phone, camera, speaker).

Re: The iPhone 3G reality For me, when I'm in a WiFi area, I have access to my PC anyways... the only WiFi area I'm ever in on a regular basis is my house/office. I also would love to have a fully converged device, and BlackBerrys are not terrible good in my opinion. I need something more full featured than a BB. So to me, the iPhone, like George says, has the full package that I want and need, it is just a really poor implementation. The LG Dare appeals to me as well (especially since I am a Verizon customer currently locked into a 2 year contract). The UMPCs, though, are really where my heart is set, but sadly, they all seem to not work on Verizon, and they are far too expensive for me.J.Ja
